Don Winslow came to our class today for "a little one on one." He is a fantastic teacher and writer and now I must need one of his books. We learned from him how to structure "great" stories - and from a man who has meet Tolkien and many others, we took him quite seriously.

I have many notes that I can't wait to share with you guys, but don't want to type them all up here. He taught us the three-point story structure of novels, and the four point of screenplays for television shows.

He is a very interesting and articulate person with a great sense of colourful humour.

We then went to an old medieval castle. Unfourtunately, it was really tourist-y and sucked. I did climb the battlements and get freaked out by the "Haunted Castle's Murder." The castle itself was gifted by King John III to an (unknown to me) person. The castle was in poor repair (as it was previously a jail) but is now quite beautiful.

We ate boxed lunches there, sitting on grass that wet-stained our butts.

We came home after four hours (Five o'clock)and ate dinner. I then walked around and talked with some friends. We went Bollywood Dancing at 6, which was A LOT of fun. I somehow managed to not make to great a fool of myself. (YAY!)

I miss everyone so much, and even though I love it here, can't wait to come home!

GETTING THE BUM'S RUSH:
A short rush, which would burn for a short time, would be used when company came over rather late; when it burnt out, you would want to see the hind end of your guests out the door.

Paul wrote: What utter twaddle! A bum is/was a bum-bailiff, and "getting the bum's rush" was being helped on your way by a couple of officers.

Tim wrote: Rushes, attached to a stick, were used as a broom. Women in a home or inn where a bum came in would chase, or sweep, the unwanted, out of the place with said broom. Thus, the bum's rush.
